Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays from My Life in Labels, and Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate!

The holidays are a wonderful time to come together with loved ones, and often these gatherings mean lots of shared food!

This can be an obstacle for those with food allergies, but not one which should get in the way of enjoying all the festivities!

I often opt to bring my own food to holiday gatherings, simply for ease and peace of mind. However, I am incredibly fortunate to have very considerate family that will hold on to labels for me to check, modify certain recipes, and leave things separate for me to enjoy as well.

What I do make sure to always bring though, are plenty of allergy friendly treats!!! I am never missing out when it comes to desserts.

Back in January, I posted my favorite Christmas cookie recipe. I typically bring these to share so I am able to eat dessert as well, and they are so good that nobody ever guesses they are dairy and egg free.

I’ll link that recipe below if you’re in the baking mood!

If you're looking for some quick, no-bake desserts to whip up for the holidays, I recently shared two of my go-to’s on the My Life in Labels Instagram page! (@mylifeinlabels)

The first is a family favorite - Corn Flake wreaths!! We devour these, and they are super easy to make - win win!

Ingredients:

  • ⅓ cup df butter (I use Earth Balance!)

  • 1 10oz package of marshmallows

  • 6 cups Kellogg’s Corn Flakes

Optional:

  • 1 tsp green food coloring (I opted for white snowy wreaths this year:))

  • Red cinnamon candy to decorate!

Step-By-Step:

  1. Melt butter and marshmallows on the stove at medium to low heat. Stir frequently until the mixture becomes liquid. Optional: Add green food coloring!

  2. Measure 6 cups of Corn Flakes into a large bowl.

  3. Pour the melted butter and marshmallow mixture over the Corn Flakes and stir until evenly coated.

  4. Using your hands, shape into small circular wreaths and place on parchment paper.

  5. Optional: Decorate your wreaths with red cinnamon candies!

  6. Place in the fridge to harden, and enjoy!

If you want to watch me make them, I'll link my Instagram reel below :)

The second go-to recipe I shared is for the classic chocolate covered Ritz crackers! Ritz are safe for me to eat, and I use Enjoy Life semi-sweet chocolate chips with YumEarth mini candy canes. I measure everything with my heart for this one :)

Step-By-Step:

  1. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave. I typically do 1 minute to start, stir, and then heat again for 30 seconds.

  2. Dip Ritz into melted chocolate, and place on parchment paper.

  3. Crush up candy canes, and sprinkle on top!

  4. Place in the fridge to harden (30ish min)

  5. Enjoy :) & store in the fridge!

And if you want to watch me make these, I'll link that video below as well :)

I hope you enjoy these two recipes, and have an amazing holiday with those you love! Buffalo readers - stay safe and warm!

Merry Christmas featuring a Buffalo blizzard!
